Malibu

One of the world’s premier beach cities, providing residents resort-style living in a private oasis.

Welcome to MALIBU

Before Malibu became a grove of diverse architecture and rich culture, it was settled by the Chumash Nation. The city's history is honored annually at Malibu Bluffs Park. Nowadays, Malibu is a premier beach city with plenty of beachfront and oceanfront views.

This luxurious, coastal town is home to one of the world's most famous beach communities, offering residents a retreat from hectic city life with resort-like living in a private, secluded oasis. Malibu is ideal for anyone looking for a laid-back lifestyle while still being close enough to commute to Los Angeles. Conveniently located near numerous parks and pristine beaches with world-class dining and entertainment only minutes away, life in Malibu is the ultimate paradise.

What to Love

People & Lifestyle

Living in Malibu is a treat—it’s a diverse, community-driven town with fresh air and pristine beaches. Despite its reputation for affluence, families from all socioeconomic backgrounds call this beach city home. Safe streets, excellent schools, and clean neighborhoods make it an ideal place to raise a family.

The warm and inviting atmosphere brings people together and has helped to forge a rural beach community, cultivating a small-town vibe where neighbors genuinely care for one another. Locally known as the 'Bu, there's nowhere else quite like it in the world.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

The best place to shop is in the heart of Malibu at the Malibu Country Mart, a large boutique mall featuring outdoor dining, public art, restaurants, a playground, and over 60 retail stores and services. On Cross Creek Road you'll find Malibu Lumber Yard, a wood-lined open-air shopping complex featuring trendy stores, restaurants, and colorful aquarium tanks located throughout.

Malibu is home to some of the best fine dining in California, many of which are headed by renowned chefs and perched on patios overlooking the ocean. Watch famed Iron Chef Nobu Matsuhisa whip up authentic Japanese cuisine in the modern beachfront space at Nobu or unwind at special occasion restaurant Geoffrey's with its sweeping panoramic views of the Pacific.

Founded in 1995, what initially began as Soho House has since evolved into a local members-only club for creatives called Little Beach House Malibu. Famous for its bar, sitting room, terrace, and elegant dining room, it's the perfect spot to indulge yourself.

Things to Do

Malibu is one of many famous beach cities along the California coast. Among its most popular beaches are Amarillo, Big Rock, Zuma, Surfrider, Topanga, Point Dume, and Leo Carrillo. One of the best things about Malibu beach culture is the variety of beaches—from secluded sandy alcoves to popular surf spots, you're guaranteed to find the perfect place to spend an afternoon in the sun.

Experience Malibu beaches and more than 500 miles of trails at the Santa Monica Mountains, where wilderness abounds. This park is teeming with notable historical and cultural landmarks. Leo Carrillo State Park is excellent for camping, hiking, beachcombing, surfing, and swimming.

Nestled on the western side of the Santa Monica Mountains, Point Mugu State Park features rocky bluffs, beaches, two river canyons, broad grassy valleys, and five miles of ocean shoreline. Hiking trails stretch on for 70 miles, dotted with oaks, sycamores, and natural wildlife.

Paradise Cove is a quintessential California beach restaurant located alongside a stretch of private beach.

Malibu festivities extend beyond the beach to fun family events like the annual Chili Cook-Off, typically held during Labor Day weekend. Besides the chili, families can expect live entertainment, carnival rides, a silent auction, vendors, and more!
